Spring Cleaning Bazaar Sale
The Geneseo United Women in Faith’s Bazaar group is having a Spring Cleaning/Overstock BAZAAR Sale of their hand-crafted items on Saturday, March 29th, at the Geneseo United Methodist Church, between 9 am – 2 pm.
The sale will feature a variety of high-quality, unique, hand-made crafts including placemats and potholders, baby quilts and lap robes, wall hangings, home decor, and more. Everything on display the day of the sale, except fabric, will be offered at 20% off the marked prices! Fabric will be sold for $1.00/pound. That’s approximately two yards of fabric for $1.00!
Our wonderful group of talented “Bazaar Ladies” have been sewing up a storm and are ready to present their beautiful, handmade items. Additionally, they have been blessed with many donations of fabric, sewing supplies and projects, and the cupboards are full to overflowing!
Not only will this sale help us to make room for new projects for our Holiday Bazaar held each December, but we get to showcase our spring and Easter items. Plus, it gives our customers a way to get some of our unique items at a great discount!
Shoppers will be happy to know that in addition to cash and checks, both debit and credit cards will be accepted. Proceeds from Saturday’s sale will be used to support the group’s mission and outreach programs and partners near and far, including Teresa House and Chances and Changes right here in our area.
The church is located in Geneseo at 4520 Genesee Street (Route 63 near the intersection of Court Street and the round-about). The building is on one level and is fully handicap accessible, with plenty of off-street parking. For more information, you may contact the church office at (585) 243-3160.

Mike Powell & the Echosound wag Garden Club
The five-headed sonic creature from Syracuse, NY is bringing their original Americana/Rock music BACK to Geneseo with special guest Garden Club!
The Echosound came together organically out of a moment in time when a musical future was uncertain and cloudy. It was 2020 and the world was locked down. Overnight I went from playing music in public all the time to listening to music alone all the time. I dusted off my old vinyl collection and went through it tirelessly. I had plenty of time on my hands. I fell back in love with the music that shaped me and the albums that have withstood the test of time. It was a wonderful experience that forced me to hit the reset button on a lot of things in my life including my musical direction. It didn't take long before I got the itch to start playing and writing again.
Garden Club formed in Geneseo in 2024 and describe their style as... well hard to narrow down, but if they have to categorize it as Jazz, Psychedelic, Funk-rock. Intense instrumentals with an occasional glimpse into some killer vocals (we're looking at you Will). Garden Club have been building momentum since they came together, already appearing on the main stage for the Sunset Concert Series live from the Wadsworth Homestead, Drumroll Stage, and a live performance on WGSU - The VOICE OF THE VALLEY! Expect a show packed with originals from their upcoming debut album (release expected spring 2025)! Follow them on Instagram @gardenclubfunk

"The Orphan Train", Geneseo Central Drama Club
Geneseo Central Drama Club proudly announces its spring play, “The Orphan Train,” by acclaimed youth theater author Aurand Harris.
Between 1854 and 1929, children deemed abandoned or poverty-stricken were relocated from the overpopulated New York City streets to families in the Midwest seeking children. “The Orphan Train” chronicles the stories of nine orphans on such a train that left New York City on May 28, 1914. The stories are compilations of true accounts of riders woven into an evening of theatre that both teaches and entertains.
Thirty-eight Geneseo Central high school students are involved in the production. The cast comprises 10 student actors who portray the orphans and an ensemble of 11 additional student performers who adeptly play multiple roles as the families, townspeople, Children’s Aid Society workers, and school children who impact the orphans’ journey and new beginnings in the Midwest.
This production of “The Orphan Train” is a multi-media experience, weaving the students’ portrayals with historical photographs integrated through rear projection. Music will also be heavily featured in the production, as several scenes include song and dance. In addition, interludes of authentic period music will connect the orphans’ stories performed by a trio of musicians playing multiple instruments, including piano, fiddle, cello and others.
Bennett Antonucci, Elena Kohlberg, Finn Morgan, Hazel Morgan, Gianna Cucchiara, Kaedin Andrews, Maia Kohlberg, Oliver Ivers, Victoria Claire Hawkins, and Will Rounding portray the orphans. The ensemble includes Natalie Capel, Emma Conklin, Anna Ferrero, Abigail Fowler, Ollie Hellquist, Alex Jagoda, Caroline Johnston, Kendall LaFleur, Andrew Matuszak, Markus Schiener, and Cade Winslow.
Crew members for the production include Hazel Davis, Vilhelmina Lergin, Vivian Purvis, and Audrey Rounding on the costume crew with Harper Antonucci, Franka Capanni, Maddie Dobson, Fin McCarthy-Wells, Katie Pearson, Alyssa Schlencker, Paula Schwark overseeing hair and makeup. Adi Donegan, Kaden Mahar-Sweet, Emily Metz, Weller Tamura, Ella Videtti, Joel Prinzi, and Jake Yarton-Pollock will assist with props and set movement on the running crew. Jamie Ferrero and Emma Prinzi will run the sound console. There are five co-stage managers who each lead a production area, including Noah French (sound), Harry Tamura and Jonah Levy (running crew), Caitlyn Bui and Soha Sheikh (sound).
The production staff for “The Orphan Train” includes Allison Chanler, producer; costumes by Andrea Rounding; and lighting design by Jena Overbeck. The show's musicians include Karen Canning, Steve Fentress, and Jim Kimball. Bettina DeBell is the artistic director. Jason Loughlin and his high school classes are building the set. Elementary art teacher Mike Wedge will paint the set.
Performances are on Friday, March 21, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, March 22, at 7:30 p.m. at Geneseo Central School, 4050 Avon Road in Geneseo. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for senior citizens and students. They can be purchased online at https://gcdc.booktix.com/ and at the door during performances.

12 Angry Jurors, Geneseo Community Players
GENESEO, N.Y. —Geneseo Community Players is proud to announce its upcoming February production of the classic courtroom drama, “12 Angry Jurors,” a gripping exploration of the complexities of the justice system and the power of individual conviction. Twelve jurors must reach a unanimous verdict in the trial of a young man accused of murder as they grapple with their own biases and personal experiences within the confines of a jury room. When one juror casts doubt on the seemingly open-and-shut case, the group re-examines the evidence, leading to heated debate and a deep dive into reasonable doubt. If this sounds like the classic film “12 Angry Men,” it is. The premise hasn't changed, but the gender of the jurors has. Written by Reginald Rose, Sherman L. Sergel adapted the film script to cast a bold new look on this classic and timely criticism of race and xenophobia.
Deftly directed by Artistic Director James Morrison, this production boasts a talented cast of actors from Livingston and Monroe County, including Ingrid Alvarez, Kurt Fletcher, Gina George, Joan Hamer, Stan Janczak, Seth Kramer, Dylan Miller, Frank Parsons, Gene Scherline, Randy Terho, Felicity Thomas, Erin Weingaertner and Casey Whittel. Producers for “Twelve Angry Jurors” are Chuck Nesbitt and Frank Parsons. Katie Kemp serves as the production stage manager.
Director Morrison was drawn to helm the production as a fan of the original 1950s movie and because “the inclusion of more than just one gender changes the underlying tension in the script.” Performers Joan Hamer of Livonia, Ingrid Alvarez of Caledonia, and Geneseo's Erin Weingaertner returned to audition for GCP because of the opportunity for women's roles and the specific shift to include women in telling this story. Felicity Thomas, who portrays the pivotal role of Juror Eight, made famous by Henry Fonda in the film, found the play “12 Angry Men” compelling since middle school. “Though it was written in the mid-1950s, much of the ignorance, classism and outright bigotry that appears in certain characters within this story reflects our contemporary American society with dizzying clarity. Offering a window through which we can view our justice system, this play shows us that, sometimes, the course of a person's life can lie completely in the hands of a stranger,” said Thomas. “The kindness and cruelty of a group of strangers are imprinted on the responsibility of judgment when a jury is formed. Justice and the justice system often take hold in my thoughts, so the opportunity to perform this piece has been an absolute challenge and pleasure.”
“This cast is one of the more talented groups I've had the pleasure of working with. They were as eager as me to get to work, with some cast members being fully off script weeks before that due date, freeing them up to dive deeper into the characters they're presenting. I cannot wait to show our audiences the fruits of these actors' labors, as they leave me speechless nearly nightly as we rehearse,” said director James Morrison. Casey Whittel, who portrays Juror Three, concurs with Morrison's view of his collective castmates, sharing that the talented cast is putting their “full heart” into the production. Whittel, an Elementary school principal from Livonia, shared that it is also great to see a former student step into the director role, having previously taught and directed James as a student in Livonia.
“12 Angry Jurors” examines a jury's deliberations that must result in a unanimous decision in a murder case. The cast of Geneseo Community Players' production invites audiences to attend this new look at a classic play that stands the test of time. Performances are on Friday, Feb. 21, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 22, at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at Geneseo Central School, 4050 Avon Road in Geneseo. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for senior citizens and students. They can be purchased online at geneseocommunityplayers.org/tickets and at the theatre box office during performances. Geneseo Community Players would like to thank the Genesee Valley Council on the Arts for funding provided through the Aids to Localities Program.

Begging Angels is a Western New York Americana Band playing both covers and originals, they have tried to keep it interesting by performing a variety of music.
Todd began his musical career as a drummer in a heavy metal band in his teens and later learned his passion for guitar and vocals. Kelly began singing at a young age in school choirs but was always influenced by a highly musical family and was exposed to a diverse range of music. When they met, it was meant to be both in life and music.
In November, 2016, they began writing together, performing publicly on a regular basis and formed Begging Angels. In December, 2017, they started adding members to the Begging Angels family seeking to form a full band. The current lineup consists of Todd Romig (rhythm guitar, lead & background vocals), Kelly Romig (lead & background vocals), Jim Osterman (lead guitar), Tom Smith (bass guitar and background vocals), Billy McGrath (drums) and in 2024 added Zach Reed to the lineup who will be joining them regularly on bass guitar but for this performance, being a multi-instrumentalist, will be playing keys.
All with a huge passion for music and for life, come enjoy the experience of Begging Angels.
